Those Damn Catholics

I just read an article in EW about the Catholic League (sounds like a lame super hero group) promises to boycott the new movie Golden Compass. The movie is based on a proclaimed atheist's bestselling books. This league says the movie aims to "bash Christianity and promote atheism to kids." Boo fucking who. The writer-director for the movie stripped away all of the direct themes related to religion just for that reason. What I am wondering is why? I understand studios need to target as large of a demographic as possible. Its all about money. But why do Catholics need to boycott everything? Oh no the Da Vinci Code goes against our precious bible and we can't even stand the thought of it not being true (its still went on to make $217million)! We can't have that! But wait, we can promote Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ because its totally accurate. And lets push the Chronicles of Narnia because that has good Christian undertones. Can't these fucking people get it through their heads that people have a choice to see a movie? If you don't want to see it, fine, don't go. You don't want YOUR children exposed to atheism, fine, don't let them see it. That's your CHOICE. And as a parent, your responsibility. But really, don't you have better things to do than boycott a movie? Go help a homeless person, mentor an underpriveleged kid or keep an eye on what your priest is doing with the altar boy and get out of my EW magazine!

Whiny

Beware: I'm feeling a bit whiney. I have a lot going on at work right now but I think the main reason is because of packing. I hate it. I'm really excited to move to the new place but I REALLY hate packing. When I moved to another state I thought I got rid of so much of that little crap but apparently not. I keep finding stuff that I know I've had for years but I just can't let go. Like notes from high school? Do I really need those? I finally threw a bunch away but really some of them are just too damn funny that I can't part with them.
And all the movies! I seriously need a whole truck for those.
And I swear when I moved down here I said I didn't care how much it cost, I was hiring movers the next time. But, alas, I'm cheap.
Also, I'm a little whiny because it is only start of football season and its driving me crazy already. I actually like the game. And it doesn't really bother me that Adam has to watch every single game. I am impressed that he has that kind of attention span. Its how loud he has to listen to it. Every man in my life has had to listen to a game at FULL volume. Why?
Like I said, I'm whiny. I'm tired and had a long day of work... with our new no smoking on company property policy. That's a lot of fun.
On a side note... its really hard to type with a kitty on your back and a dog butt in your face.

Wide World of Windows

Before I begin my next blog I'd just like to let all of you know about some exciting news... I will hopefully be writing more blogs again. I know... try to contain yourselves now.
Anyways, in keeping with the neighbor topic I was staring out onto the deck tonight smoking a cigarette and realized how many more people have moved into our complex within the past year. Where once I only say one light on across the way I now see 5. And even though I can't really make out much inside their apartments I really get to wondering about what people see when they look into mine. We are the strange people who are always hanging out the sliding glass doors smoking. Awhile back we got guitar hero and played it in the spare bedroom in front of the window. Keep in mind that we live on the "premium" side which means our apartment faces the grass and a walking path instead of the parking lot. So people are usually walking by. Now we live on the 2nd floor so I know its a lot harder to see inside but for those who venture a look skywards they will most likely find 2 people rocking out to Kansas on a plastic guitar or, now that we have a Wii, 2 people doing all sorts of crazy shit with small plastic remotes/wands. Or there are those times when Adam is out of town and I am dancing around (I often dance when cleaning). Maybe that is why my neighbors are so quick to think the barking dog must be coming from the apartment of crazies. That could be why most of my neighbors in Arlington Heights stayed far away... we had a strange dancing moment one night before heading out for dinner where I think I did a rain dance while the 2 indian women walked by our patio. There really is no point to this blog... its just reaffirms my oddities.

Jerks

After coming up with great blogging ideas and then immediately forgetting them time and time again, I haven returned to the blog scene with...
JERKS!
Saturday night Adam took Doc out for a potty break and when he returned he showed me an envelope that was left leaning up against our door. Before I tell you what it said let me just say that this envelope was used and had some type of stain, like pizza sauce. Ok, here is what it read (spelling & grammatical errors are theirs): "Shut your dog up! If you can not we will have him removed. Your dog is dissrupting all of us!" Now for those of you who aren't familiar with my building, there is a large golden retriever, Oscar, in the apartment below us. He barks constantly. Probably because his owners rarely ever take him out or when they do they let him wander around without a leash and then yell for him for about an hour until he returns. Yes, my dog barks on occasion. Like when his girlfriend comes sashaying by. But mostly its more of a whining that doesn't last long. However, I was home ALL DAY on Saturday (I had a cold so I was on the couch... no napping though) and I know for a fact that Doc did not bark once. Drama, on the other hand, bitched for a while here and there but I doubt my wonderful neighbors were referring to her. Besides the fact that it was NOT my dog barking that day, or any other day that these worrying neighbors think, I was home. They couldn't have knocked and talked to me about it like a real neighbor? When I lived with a friend one of our neighbors were 2 indian women who never held the door for you or returned a hello. When they began playing loud music with annoying bass late on weeknights I didn't write a quick note on a snotty kleenex and sneak over to leave it on their doorstep. We went over there and asked them kindly to keep it down since we were trying to sleep. Oh and you know what? It worked. Granted they still didn't hold the door open or say hello but they were kind enough to keep the music low. I'm not the most neighborly person, I don't bring a casserole over whenever people move in the building but I will give the person the courtesy of complaining to their face. I know some people would shut the door in your face or spit on you but come on, most people understand and are at least willing to make a compromise. Oh yeah and if they knocked on my door they would've been able to figure out that it wasn't my fucking dog barking all of the time!

Tagged

I was tagged by Vicki so....

The Rules (da da da) You have to write 6 weird things about yourself, then "tag" other people forcing them to write a blog revealing 6 weird things about themselves. They then have to tag six people and so on. After you write your blog and name your peeps, make sure you leave a comment on their page telling them that they've been tagged and make them read your blog to find out what that means.

1. To this day I still want to be on American Gladiators.
2. I listen to Kenny Rogers and Neil Diamond.
3. I talk for my animals on a daily basis. I think I'm close to being one of those crazy people that dress up their pets and tell people they are my children... like seriously mean it.
4. I moved to St. Louis for Adam... who does that? But the weather is nice.
5. I like alone time. Like random car rides in the middle of the night or walking the dog.
6. I want to to be a crime boss.
Peeps I'm tagging: Jenn, Mike, Dena, uh who else "blogs?" oh I guess you could just email... Tracy, Julie and someone!

Cocoa Puffs

Cocoa puffs are brown. They have sugar and cocoa. And puff. Like puff the magic dragon. Or puff daddy. Or power puff girls. And afro puff. They are also round. And they are textured. Cocoa Puffs make your milk brown too. Yeah and they are crunchy. Unless they sit in the milk too long. I haven't had cocoa puffs in ages.
By the way, Adam told me to write a blog about cocoa puffs.

Motivation

Motivation is a funny thing for me. Like a paycheck it never seems to hang around too long. When it hits me I'm all excited and I start something then blam! Its gone. If only there was a way to steal someone else's motivation. Imagine you see some joe blow at the office really going to town on a project. Wouldn't it be great to sneak up and pull the motivation rug out from under him? Then you could stick it in a bottle and save it for later. Like when you get home from work and really should clean the house but oh today just wore you out. You pull out the stored motivation and cha-ching the house gets cleaned in no time. Plus with a little extra you stole from that kid mowing lawns to save money for college you also retiled the neighbors kitchen floor.
Thats my dream. Call me lazy but how the hell else to do you get motivation?
