Those Damn Catholics
I just read an article in EW about the Catholic League (sounds like a lame super hero group) promises to boycott the new movie Golden Compass. The movie is based on a proclaimed atheist's bestselling books. This league says the movie aims to "bash Christianity and promote atheism to kids." Boo fucking who. The writer-director for the movie stripped away all of the direct themes related to religion just for that reason. What I am wondering is why? I understand studios need to target as large of a demographic as possible. Its all about money. But why do Catholics need to boycott everything? Oh no the Da Vinci Code goes against our precious bible and we can't even stand the thought of it not being true (its still went on to make $217million)! We can't have that! But wait, we can promote Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ because its totally accurate. And lets push the Chronicles of Narnia because that has good Christian undertones. Can't these fucking people get it through their heads that people have a choice to see a movie? If you don't want to see it, fine, don't go. You don't want YOUR children exposed to atheism, fine, don't let them see it. That's your CHOICE. And as a parent, your responsibility. But really, don't you have better things to do than boycott a movie? Go help a homeless person, mentor an underpriveleged kid or keep an eye on what your priest is doing with the altar boy and get out of my EW magazine!
